Lena Jane Watkins

Lena Jane Watkins was called to be with the Lord on January 10, 2012 at her home in Alexandria, Virginia.  She was born in Lunenburg, Virginia on January 24, 1913 to John Edward and Maryetta Pollard.  She attended Alexandria City Public Schools and received her diploma from Parker Gray High School.  She went on to attend Armstrong as well as Culinary and Seamstress Schools.
 
Mrs. Watkins was known for her cakes!!! There was not a birthday that she missed.  She also enjoyed sewing and watching sports.  Her favorite pastime of all was spending time with her sister, Florence.  Where you saw one, you saw the other; they were inseparable.  

Mrs. Watkins is preceded in death by her husband; John Watkins, her parents, a son; John Watkins, daughter; Carrie Belt, sister; Rachel Pollard and granddaughter; Rita Belt. She leaves to cherish her memory three sisters; Florence Watkins, Ruby Williams and Jane Pollard, two brothers, John Jr. and Albert Pollard, granddaughters; Mary Moore-Johnson, Michelle Belt, Linda Watkins, grandsons; Donnell Watkins and John III, one daughter-in-law; Joannie Watkins, one son-in-law; Clarence Belt, a loving niece and caregiver; Mary Butler, and a great niece and caregiver; Donita Butler, 13 great-grandchildren, 31 great-great grandchildren, as well as a host of other family and friends.

Viewing and visitation will be held at Roberts Memorial United Methodist Church 606A South Washington Street, Alexandria, Virginia (map/directions) on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at 12:00 pm, Interment, Colman's Cemetery Alexandria, Virginia (map/directions).
