Johnson, Carolyn Obituary

Carolyn Magdelene Johnson was born in Clinton, North Carolina on March 19, 1948 to the late Albert Johnson and Maggie Wells Johnson. Upon the passing of her mother, she was raised by Ida Oliver, her aunt.  She departed this life on May 6, 2013 following a brief illness. Carolyn graduated from Sampson High School in 1966 and went on to attend Kittrell College and Barber Scotia College in North Carolina where she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in History.

Carolyn was employed with the US Department of Justice for 25 years before retiring in 2006.  She is preceded in death by her long-time companion Oscar Gantt, and to this union was born one son Jeffrey Brandon Johnson. Carolyn enjoyed helping people and meeting their needs. She was a very kind and gentle soul. She had a loving and generous heart, and was always giving to others.

Carolyn leaves to cherish her memories: one son, Jeffrey B. Johnson of the home; two sisters, Abbie Johnson of Washington, DC, and Patricia Faison of Clinton, NC; one grandson Kevontay Desean Dozier of Washington, DC; seven nieces, Linda Kornegay (Horice) of Mount Olive, NC, Carla & Claire Toppins of Brooklyn, NY, Crystal Peterson (Donte) of Roseboro, Keisha Avant (Roy) of Fayetteville, NC and Candice & Angel Faison of Clinton, NC; one nephew Darrian Johnson of Clinton, NC; one great-niece Telena Oliver of New York and two great-nephews Devin Peterson of Roseboro, NC and Quentin Howard of Clinton, NC.  In addition, she leaves a host of distant relatives and friends.
