Mary Agnes Yohn, 100, formerly of Shade Valley, PA and more recently living at Palmstown Manor, Palmyra, PA died Thursday, November 2, 2017 at Palmyra.
Born August 4, 1917 in Tell Township, Huntingdon County, she was the daughter of the late Chauncy and Julia ( Starr) Piper.
She was married to Willard H. Yohn on June 29, 1940 at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, Mount Union, PA. Mr. Yohn preceded in death on November 28, 1995.
Mrs. Yohn is survived by eight children: Jerry Yohn and wife Susan, Grantville, PA; Richard Yohn and wife Carol, Greencastle, PA; Barbara Groce and husband Mac, Harrisburg, PA; James Yohn, Martinsburg, West Virginia; Robert Yohn and wife IvyLee, Shade Gap, PA; Philip Yohn, Shade Gap, PA; Timothy Yohn and wife Rose Ann, Greencastle, PA and Daniel Yohn and wife Pam, Hustontown, PA.
There are 20 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.
A sister Julia Piper Linnenkohl, survives at Dayton, Ohio.
A sister Margaret Piper Nolan and a brother John Jerome Piper are deceased.
Mrs. Yohn attended McNeal School for 8 grades, high school in Mount Union, PA and completed Thompson Business School, York, PA.
A devout Catholic, she was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Orbisonia, PA.
A wonderful mother and grandmother, Mrs. Yohn was a loving, nurturing woman who was kind to everyone she met. She was an excellent cook, enjoyed reading, and loved chocolate ice cream and candy.
A farm wife and homemaker, she was a member of Tuscarora Grange, Farm Women Group #4, and St. Mary’s Guild.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, November 6, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Orbisonia, PA with Rev. Father Joseph Fleming as the celebrant. Interment will be made at Salem Cemetery, Blairs Mills, PA. Friends may call at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, Orbisonia, PA from 6—8:00 PM on Sunday and from 9:30—10:30 AM Monday morning. A recitation of the Rosary will be at 8:00 PM Sunday evening.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 20896, Croghan Pike, Orbisonia, PA 17243.
