Irving Gerald “Gerry” Wenders, 72, of Matamoras, Pennsylvania, passed away on February 21, 2013.
The son of the late Irving G. and Lody (Woroniecki) Wenders, Gerry was born in Waymart, Pennsylvania on December 30, 1940. He was married to Audrey E. Deibner on August 18, 1968; they were married 44 years. Gerry worked as an Industrial Arts teacher for 34 years starting his career in Bainbridge, NY and retiring from Port Jervis High School in 1996.
He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, music, travel and dancing; especially polka dances. He was also very active with the Veterans Memorial Park and Education Center in Matamoras, PA and the Matamoras Recreation Committee. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Matamoras, the Hudson Valley Polonaise Society, German-American Club of Middletown, NY, the Mid-Hudson Area Retired Teachers’ Association and the Penn State Extension Board.
Gerry is survived by his wife, Audrey, at home; daughter, Jill A. Crossley and granddaughters Olivia and Amelia Crossley of El Paso, TX; son, Brian T. Wenders of Norristown, PA; sister, Sylvia Williams of West Melbourne, FL; brother, Patrick Wenders and his wife, Elizabeth of Shortsville, NY and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on February 25, 2013 at Saint Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Matamoras, PA (map/directions) with Rev. August A. Ricciardi officiating. Visitation will be held on February 24, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at Stroyan Funeral Home, 405 W. Harford St. Milford, PA (map/directions).
Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations may be made to the Veterans Memorial Park & Education Center, P.O. Box 333 Matamoras, PA 18336.

Mass of Christian Burial - Saint Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Matamoras - 11:00 a.m.
