Larry E. Snyder, age 71, of 565 Meadow St., Rockhill Furnace, PA, crossed over to the other side of life on August 9, 2017, after a long battle with Multiple Myeloma due to Agent Orange exposure at his home.

Born May 12, 1946 in Lancaster, PA, he was the son of the late Wilbur Snyder and Emma (Tyson) Snyder who survives of Elizabethtown, PA.

He was married to his soul mate the former Sandra “Sandi” Laird who survives and resides at their home.

His surviving children include, Shane Snyder and wife Rebecca of Brandon, FL, Rick Shoop and wife Jody of Chambersburg, Jessica Patrick and husband Christopher of Hollidaysburg, PA, Shei’la Hoffer and husband Christopher of Palmyra, PA and Travis Snyder of Manheim,PA. One son, Dustin B. Snyder, preceded in death.

He is also survived three brothers and one sister, James Snyder and wife Marilyn of Millheim, Gwendolyn Snyder of Lititz, Donald Snyder of Mount Joy and Steven Snyder and wife Patty of Mount Joy.

He is the grandfather of Jenna (Hershey) and Matt Hoffman, Jonathan Hershey, Emily Hershey, Zerek, Vance, Xavier and Stone Hoffer, Dustin and Darren Snyder and Dexter Snyder. He was known as “Paw-Paw” to his grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and all of their friends.

Larry was recently was blessed with a great-granddaughter, Callie Grace Hoffman.

Larry was a graduate of Manheim Central High School Class of 1965. He served in the US Marine Corps from 1965-69 and the USMC Reserves from 1969-71. He was a Vietnam Veteran from 1966-67. He retired from Alcoa Aluminum, Lancaster in 2008.

He was a member of the Rockhill Borough Council.

As a member of the Orbisonia-Rockhill Sportsmen Club he enjoyed caring for the fish at the hatchery.

Larry was a member of the Orbisonia Lions Club and always loved helping with the Orbisonia-Rockhill Homecoming each year.

He was a life member of Disabled American Veterans Chapter Chapter #34, Altoona, PA, Blue Juniata Post 5754, Mt. Union, PA and the Vietnam Veterans Association #967. He was also a member of Madden-Wennick Post 518, American Legion, Rockhill Furnace, PA.

He will always be remembered for his contagious smile and pleasant personality with his witty humor.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, August 20, 2017 at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, 565 Ridgley St., Orbisonia, PA with Rev. Sandra Snyder officiating. Interment will be made privately at the I. O. O. F. Memorial Cemetery, Rockhill Furnace, PA. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
