Robert Charles Piper, 89, Piper Lane, Shade Gap, PA died at 9:29 PM, Friday, March 22, 2019 at the Lewistown Hospital, Lewistown, PA.
Born December 12, 1929 at Shade Gap, he was the son of the late Jay W. and Margaret (Sipes) Piper. He was first married to Alma I. Kerlin who died September 21, 2005. He later married Geraldine (Mentzer) Hancock, who survives at home.
Mr. Piper is survived by three children: Judith A. Eichenlaub and husband Wayne, Blairs Mills, PA; William D. Piper and wife Vickie, Shade Gap; Randall L. Piper and wife Cathy, Burnt Cabins, PA along with a daughter in law Donna Piper, Neelyton, PA and four stepchildren: Wilmer “Bill” Hancock and wife Marlene, Mount Union, PA; Cindy Fortney and husband Fred, Shirleysburg, PA; Timothy Hancock and wife Connie, Rockhill Furnace, PA; and David Hancock, Shirleysburg.
A son Robert C. Piper, Jr. and a stepson James Hancock preceded in death.
There are 18 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
A brother Wayne Piper survives of Karthaus, PA. A brother Gary Piper and a sister Juanita Johnson are deceased.
He was a member of the Fair Ridge Assembly of God Church, Shade Gap, PA.

He was a member of the Fair Ridge Assembly of God Church, Shade Gap, PA.
Mr. Piper retired in 1992 from JLG Industries, McConnellsburg, PA. In earlier years, he worked at Harbison Walker Refractories, Mt. Union for 19 years, C. J. Langefelter Inc., Baltimore, MD at highway construction, and at DeRose Industries, Chambersburg, PA as a carpenter. Also he was a lifetime farmer.
He served 12 years as a Dublin Township Supervisor.
Mr. Piper was an avid hunter with a passion for hunting deer. He worked at taxidermy as a hobby. He enjoyed drawing and was known for his detailed memory and concise storytelling.
For several years he played and sang with the “Gospel Galileans”.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at the Fair Ridge Assembly of God Church, 22776 Piper Lane, Shade Gap, PA with Pastor Berry Brown and Pastor Joel Snyder officiating. Interment will be at the Fair Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 6--8:00 PM on Tuesday and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to Fair Ridge Assembly of God Church, 22776 Piper Lane, Shade Gap, PA 17255.
