George H. Locke

George Herbert Locke, 87, Maddensville Pike, Orbisonia, PA died at 3:40 PM, Monday, September 4, 2017 at his home.

Born July 22, 1930 in Springfield Township, Huntingdon County, he was the son of the late Ewell and Freda (Ashton) Locke.  He was first married to Nettie Mae Ramsey on June 10, 1051.  She preceded in death on October 21, 1997.  He later married Heather Smith on August 15, 2010.  Mrs. Locke survives at home.

Mr. Locke is survived by a two sons and a daughter:  Gordon Locke and wife Donna, Orbisonia; Julie I. Martin and husband Stan, Erlanger, KY; and Gregg G. Locke, Atlanta, GA along with a stepson Gregory Smith and wife Pam, Warfordsburg, PA.

There are three grandchildren, two step grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and five step great grandchildren and a great-great grandson Ethan Locke.  

Two grandchildren, Justin Locke and Stacy Crawford and a great grandson, Devon Hershey are deceased.

Also, two sisters, Eleanor Dishong and Irene Park and a brother Henry Locke are deceased.

He was a member of the Walnut Grove Church of God, Three Springs, PA.

In his early years, Mr. Locke worked at the steel mills in Pittsburgh, PA.  He worked for Langenfelter Co. at the construction of the Blue Mountain and Kittatinny tunnels on the Pennsylvania turnpike.  He later worked for Hamman Plumbing and Heating where he operated a school bus.  His last worked as a school bus contractor with the Southern Huntingdon County School District, Orbisonia, PA.

Mr. Locke served as an aircraft mechanic with the US Air Force during the Korean War.

He was a member of Mount Zion Lodge #774, Free and Accepted Masons, McConnellsburg, PA.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, September 8, 2017 at the Walnut Grove Church of God, 9002 Walnut Grove Church Road, Three Springs, PA with Pastor Alann Schmidt officiating.  Interment will be at Walnut Grove Cemetery.  Friends may call at the church from noon until 2:00 PM on Friday.  

Mount Zion Lodge #774 F and AM will conduct a Masonic memorial service at the beginning of the funeral service at the church on Friday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Walnut Grove Cemetery Association, c/o Roger Ramsey, 23467 Fort Littleton Road, Orbisonia, PA  17243.

The family requests casual attire at the funeral service.
