Randall D. Evans
June 17, 2013
Randall “Randy” Evans passed away unexpectedly in his home on Monday, June 17, 2013 in Washington, DC. Randy was born to Huey Marcell Evans and Zenobia Solomon Evans in Washington DC, on July 28, 1964.
As a military dependent Randy spent his early childhood in Orleans, France and Frankfurt, Germany. In 1968 the family was assigned to Ft. Belvoir, Virginia, where they resided until eventually making their home in Lorton, VA.
As a child, Randy participated in Little League baseball, basketball and football. He could usually be found with a book, or three, in hand; and he was known for utilizing all the tools and opportunities made available to him. From an early age, Randy’s passion for knowledge and understanding of business was apparent, leading him to become a member of the Future Business Leaders of America. He was educated in Fairfax County Public Schools and graduated from Hayfield Secondary School in 1982. Randy attended the University of Virginia and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 1986. Randy pledged Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Lambda Zeta Chapter in spring of 1984 and has been an active and dedicated member ever since.
Randy was known for his business acumen and entrepreneurial spirit. During his college years, he founded Black Enterprisers, an organization for young black entrepreneurs. After graduation, Randy embarked upon several business ventures including Clean Sweep and Metro Mobile. He ultimately founded Accounteks Business Services, a full service accounting, bookkeeping and tax firm that for more than twenty years has served numerous organizations and clients in the Washington DC Metropolitan area.
Randy married Deborah Denise Martin in 1989. For nearly twenty-five years, Randy and Deborah shared a love of God, family and a responsibility to life. Their union produced three lovely daughters – “Randy’s Angels” – Ayana Nicole, Aliyah Naimah and Ayia Nailah. With a strong sense of family and values, he taught his daughters to live with integrity and a deep sense of accountability.
As a member of the 100 Black Men of Greater Washington, DC, Inc. Randy spent endless hours fulfilling the organization’s goals of providing mentoring, education, health & wellness and economic empowerment programs to inner-city youth. Because of his caring spirit and open heart, he was always willing to assist his family, friends and clients. Randy’s true talent was his ability to make introductions and create balance in relationships.
Randy was well loved by family, friends, and business associates in local, national and international communities. He was an avid sports fan who delighted in hosting friends to share in front row seats and other amenities at basketball games at the Verizon Center in Washington, DC. He was a Saturday morning regular with The Pink Petal Zumba community fitness workout. As much as Randy loved numbers, he lived by a basic formula: God + Family + Community.
He is survived by his wife Deborah, three daughters Ayana, Aliyah and Ayia; parents Huey and Zenobia; siblings Marcelles, Robin, Ronda, Rami and Andre. He also leaves behind Father and Mother-in-law, Reverend Gerald Martin and Peggy Martin and Grandmother-in-law Bertha Braxton; Brother-in-law and sisters-in-law Kevin, Kim, Laura and Shiara; Nieces Ante, Daisha, Madison, Katrina, Kloe and Amani; Nephews Josiah, Isaiah, M. Themba, and Nkosana; a plethora of loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. Randy also leaves behind a host of special extended family, friends, and business associates.
