Rosetta A. Brooks

On Sunday, April 8th, 1956, Rosetta was born to the late Ralph Sr. and Neva Brooks in Nashville, Tennessee. She was the fourth of seven siblings. Suddenly, on Monday, July 4th, 2016, Rosetta departed this life and awaits entrance to her heavenly home. At a very young age, Rosetta and her family relocated to Silver Spring, Maryland. Rosetta started her formal education at the Dupont Park Seventh-day Adventist School in Washington, DC. Later she graduated from Gaithersburg High School.
Rosetta had one daughter, Twana, and one grand-dog, De'ja' Vu. She was married previously to Steven Dorsey Sr. Rosetta and Steven remained best-friends until her untimely death.
Rosetta and her family attended the Sandy Spring Seventh-day Adventist Church which was later renamed Emmanuel-Brinklow Seventh-day Adventist Church. She was baptized on October 5th, 1963, by Pastor Walter M. Starks. Rosetta and her sister, Sheila, Along with seven young girls made made up a choir that was directed by Mrs. Patricia M. Hunt. They provided music for her church and were invited to sing in other neighboring churches. She was an active member of the Pathfinders Club, Outreach ministry, ingathering, and missionary work.
Rosetta’s career began as a cook at the National Institute of Standard Technology (NIST). She continued to cook at Bare Bones. Later, Rosetta became a bus driver for the Montgomery County Ride-On bus service. She retired from driving after 20 1/2 years. After retirement, she became a day-care provider and regarded all her babies as her own. Also, Rosetta prepared meals for seniors and others. She stayed active in her community, and was always lending a helping hand to those in need. She was a person that you could depend on.
She was predeceased by her sister, Comelita Brooks; her parents, Ralph and Neva Brooks; her stepson Steven Dorsey Jr.; and her niece, Tabitha Johnson.
Rosetta leaves to mourn her passing, her daughter, Twana Brooks, her grand-dog, De'ja' Vu; her siblings, Sheila Brooks, Gaithersburg, MD; Ralph Brooks Jr., Germantown, MD; Dwan Brooks, Hagerstown, MD; Twana Brooks, Silver Spring, MD; and Garland Brooks, Palmer, AK; and her nieces and nephews, Ereaka Brooks, Naomi Brooks, Max Brooks, Jamal Palmer, Comelita Lyles, Rachard Lyles, Nuyaaqig Ipalook, Hipausanna Ipalook, Neva Brooks, Dwan Brooks, Matthew Brooks, Peyton Kettleband, Justice Page, Justin Page, Eriyln Brooks, Taylor Brooks, and Oliver Brooks. She had two step-granddaughters LaShay and LaKierra Dorsey and a step-grandson DeAndre Kelly. In addition, she leaves her close girl friends, Kathy Spence, Linda Parker, and Bridgett Wims.
