Mary Phyllis Bard

Mary Phyllis Bard, 85, Shippensburg, PA died Sunday afternoon, June 22, 2014 at home after a prolonged illness.  

Born August 31, 1928 in Saltillo, PA, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Anna (Kimmel) Ashman.  She was married to Charles Donald Bard, Jr. on September 3, 1943.  Mr. Bard preceded in death on July 2, 2005.

Mrs. Bard is survived by six children:  Mary P. Stover and husband Larry, Shippensburg, PA; Mildred Diane Webber and husband David, South Wales, NY; Nina Lourene Bard, Port Huron, MI; Jean Marie Bard and partner Anthony J. Venturoli, Sr., Lake View, NY; John E. Bard and wife Gloria, North Collins, NY; and Thomas D. Bard and partner Maureen Husul, Gilbert, AZ.  One son, Charles Robert Bard, preceded in death in 2008.

There are 21 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren.  

Two sisters and one brother survive: Elizabeth “Betty” Bollinger, Orbisonia, PA; John Ashman, Dagsboro, DE; and Linda Spencer, New Port Richey, FL.  Six siblings are deceased.

Mrs. Bard was a member of the Dublin Mills Community Church, Hustontown, PA.

She loved her family and especially enjoyed crocheting, crafts and canning.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, June 26, 2014 at the Dublin Mills Community Church, 2700 Dublin Mills Road, Hustontown, PA with Pastor Richard L. “Sam” Stoey officiating.  Interment will be made at the church cemetery.  Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service on Thursday.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dublin Mills Community Church Youth Programs, 2700 Dublin Mills Road, Hustontown, PA  17229.
