Francis Hamilton McFall, 89, of Front Royal, VA died on Wednesday, May 30 at Warren Memorial Hospital.  A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 3, at 2:00pm at the Front Royal United Methodist Church (map/directions) officiated by the Reverend Gary Heaton.  

Mr. McFall was born on August 28, 1922 in Warren County, the son of Lacey Hamilton McFall and Gussie Virginia Rosser McFall.  He was a lifelong resident of Front Royal, VA and graduated from both Warren County High School and Randolph Macon Academy.  During High School, he excelled in basketball, baseball, football and track, earning him an athletic scholarship to the College of William & Mary.  While at William & Mary, he was a standout track athlete, winning the 100 and 220 yd. dashes in the 1943 Southern Conference Championship meet and captaining the William & Mary team.  His studies were interrupted to serve in Panama during World War II.  He returned to William & Mary and graduated in 1949 with a Bachelor of Science degree.  During his college years, he was a member of the SAE fraternity and the Order of the White Jackets.   After graduating from William & Mary, Mr. McFall taught physical education at Warwick H.S. in Newport News, VA.  Following his teaching career, he returned to Front Royal to join Kibler Furniture Company.   He and his wife Gloria ran the family business for forty years and were active in preserving Front Royal’s historic Main Street.    

Mr. McFall, affectionately known as “Mac”, was active in the community as a sports official, youth coach and sports radio announcer on WFTR for many years.  He was a loyal member of the United Methodist Church and will be missed by all of his friends and colleagues who frequented the Main Street store throughout his life.  

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Gloria Ann Kibler; his daughter Gloria McFall Miller and her husband, Charles Richard Miller, Sr. of Harrisburg, PA, and his son Gary Hamilton McFall and his partner, Robert Ramoy, of Bethesda, MD; his grandchildren, Christina Miller Treacy and husband Jim, of Great Falls, VA and Charles Richard Miller, Jr. and wife Julie of Mansfield, PA; his great-grandchildren, Emily, Lauren, Ellie, Evan and Joshua.
 
Pallbearers will be Charles Richard Miller, Jr., James Treacy, Robert Ramoy, Thomas Tharpe, Ron Whitehead and Bill Barnett.   

Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Richard Miller, Sr., Andrew Campbell, Phillip Compton, Jack Evans, Robert Aylor, Braden Manuel, William Napier, Malcolm Barr and David Wines. The family would like to honor a good friend, Hubert H. “Hubie” Marlow, Jr., deceased.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Front Royal United Methodist Church at 1 W. Main Street, Front Royal, VA 22630 and to Randolph Macon Academy, Endowed Scholarship Fund,  200 Academy Drive, Front Royal, VA  22630, in the name of Francis H. McFall.
   
Interment will follow the church service at Prospect Hill Cemetery (map/directions).  All are then welcome to join the family at the Front Royal United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.

Arrangements are being handled by Maddox Funeral Home.
