Haga, Mary Obituary

Mary Magretta Morrison Haga, 93, of Front Royal died on Saturday, October 25, 2014, at Warren Memorial Hospital.

 

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 30th, at 2:00 p.m. at the Front Royal United Methodist Church conducted by The Rev. Denise Bates.  Inurnment in Prospect Hill Cemetery will be private.

 

Mrs. Haga was born June 23, 1921, in Bentonville, daughter of Lorenza Dowell and Narcissus Maria Manuel Morrison. She was married to the late Howard R. “Sonny” Haga.

 

Mrs. Haga was a member of the Front Royal United Methodist Church where she was past-president of the United Methodist Women. She was a member of the Leslie Fox Keyser Sunday School Class and initiated the church prayer chain program as well as the church tape ministry for shut-ins.  She was a past-president of the A. S. Rhodes PTA and the Valley Garden Club. She was a member of the Warren Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

 

Surviving are two sons Howard Randolph “Randy” Haga, Jr. of Richmond and his wife Barbara Hill Haga and Edward Morrison “Skip” Haga of Charlottesville and his wife Edith O’Connor Haga; a brother H. E. “Eddie” Morrison of Front Royal and his wife Beverly Morrison; six grandchildren; one step-grandson; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Haga was preceded in death by a brother John I. Morrison and two sisters Verla E. Grogg and Anna Orville Athey.

 

The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the service.

 

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Front Royal United Methodist Church, 1 West Main St., Front Royal, VA 22630; C-CAP, 316 North Royal Ave., Front Royal, VA 22630; or to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 W. Cork St., Winchester, VA  22601.

 

Arrangements are being handled by Maddox Funeral Home.
