Phyllis Leigh Carroll Grier

Phyllis Leigh Carroll Grier, 95, of Front Royal, passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2014 in the Warren Memorial Hospital.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 2, at 2:30 p.m. at Maddox Funeral Home with The Rev. Alfred Woods officiating. Interment will follow in the Good Hope Cemetery.

Mrs. Grier was born March 2, 1919 in Lynchburg, daughter of the late James and Mary Watts Carroll. She was a member of the John Wesley United Methodist Church, a past Daughter Ruler of the Elks South River Temple Lodge #420, B.P.O.E. and a member of the Eastern Star Chapter 208. Mrs. Grier was married to the late Frank Joseph Grier.

Surviving are a daughter Claudia R. Grier-Ngome of Strasburg; one son James Edward Grier of Front Royal; and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Walter Ngome, Leroy Ngome, Darius Grier, Scott Laconia, Eric Cales and Scott Blume.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 1:30 until 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
