Kenneth F. Brooks

Kenneth F. Brooks, 75, died at home in Shohola Falls on January 9, 2014 with his wife by his side. He was born August 4, 1938 in Lake Ariel to Irvin G. and Louise (Helms) Brooks.

He grew up in Lake Ariel on the family farm and in 1953 the family moved to Shohola Falls where they operated a small resort. Ken worked for Penn DOT for eight years and then as a caretaker at Culin Cottages on Twin Lakes. He was a very respected carpenter throughout the area until he retired in 1994 to take over the full time running of his family resort. He married his High School sweetheart, Lucie Smith on October 5, 1957 in Hamlin. They celebrated their 56th anniversary last fall.

He was a member of Greeley Grange #2053 and also the Milford Lodge #344 F. & A.M. Ken loved to hunt, fish (especially ice fish) and for many years he and Lucie traveled through the winter in their motor home across the south from FL to TX.

Survivors include his wife, Lucie; daughter, Lillian Husak and her husband Stephen; grandson, Ian Husak; and granddaughter, Samantha Husak all of Laurel, NY; sisters: Kathryn Scholler and her husband Joseph of Layton, UT, Carol Evans and her husband Charles of Valparaiso, FL; several cousins; nieces; and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Bruce Brooks. He also leaves his devoted dog, Sneezy, a rescue pup.

A Memorial Service will be held at Good Shepherd & St. John the Evangelist Episcopal Church, 110 West Catharine St., Milford, PA on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the church in Ken's memory.
