Vera L. Appleby

Vera L. Appleby, 95, formerly of Neelyton, PA and more recently of Grantsville, UT, died Monday, August 18, 2014 at Rocky Mountain Nursing Home, Tooele, UT.

Born September 23, 1918 at Claysburg, PA, she was a daughter of the late George S. and Rebecca J. (Wilkison) Burket. She was married to Floyd E. "Spully" Appleby on July 17, 1937 at Winchester, VA. Mr. Appleby preceded in death August 20, 1983.

Surviving are one daughter: Georgia Dillard and husband Richard of Grantsville, UT; one granddaughter: Stina Sorenson and husband Ken of Las Cruces, NM; two great grandsons: Jared Medina and wife Brittnie, and Wacey Sorenson; and one great granddaughter: Chelsey Sorenson. She was preceded in death by a total of six brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Appleby had been an Avon representative for 37 years belonging to the Presidents Club.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 23, 2014 at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, 565 Ridgley St., Orbisonia, PA. Interment will be made at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, RD, Shade Gap, PA. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
